Keynote Address: The Credibility of Research and Challenges for Management Scholars and Educators’ Careers

Herman Aguinis is the Avram Tucker Distinguished Scholar and Professor of Management in The George Washington University School of Business. He was elected for the five-year presidency track of the Academy of Management (AOM) and is serving as AOM Program Chair Elect & Vice President Elect, Program Chair & Vice President, President Elect, President, and Past President during 2018-2023. His problem-focused and interdisciplinary research addresses the acquisition and deployment of talent and organizational research methods. The November 2018 Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers Report ranked him among the 96 most cited Economics and Business researchers in the world during the 11-year period 2006-2016. He has published about 160 journal articles (e.g., AMJ, AMR, JOM, SMJ, ORM, JAP, PPsych) and nine books including Performance Management (4th edition, 2019), Applied Psychology in Talent Management (8th edition, with Wayne F. Cascio, 2019), and Regression Analysis for Categorical Moderators. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Management and Past President of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management. He is the recipient of the 2017 Losey Award by the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation for lifetime achievement in human resource research, the AOM Research Methods Division Distinguished Career Award for lifetime contributions, and the AOM Practice Theme Committee Scholar Practice Impact Award for his impact on policy making and managerial and organizational practices. He received six best-article-of-the-year awards from Journal of Management, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of Organizational Behavior (twice), and Academy of Management Perspectives. He served as editor-in-chief of Organizational Research Methods and guest editor of Journal of Management and Personnel Psychology. He has served or currently serves on the editorial board of 25 US-, France-, Spain-, South Africa-, and Brazil-based journals. His research has been featured by media in North America, Latin America (e.g., Mexico, Argentina, Perú), and Europe including Forbes, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Bloomberg Businessweek, USA Today, and many others.
