Changes in Organizational Environment and Their Impact on Meaning of Theatre
The study aims to explore how environmental factors have impacted the organizing of the theatre organizations in Kolkata, given the historical background of the city. It has been proposed that the meaning of work has a role to play in response to their environment. Two organizations have been studied based on factors such as age and size. Findings of this study suggest the following: 1) the relations with the environment have an impact on their resources and consequently their decisions 2) the meaning of work for the members of both the organizations is homogenous within the organizations and different across. The implications are important since they can be vital for understanding how the theatre organizations can survive despite low margins. The data collection is still in progress and hence, there may be further insights.
